The Conservative Party of Richmond County has released its list of endorsements and recommendations ahead of New York City’s 2025 general election, highlighting support for several local candidates and urging voters to reject all citywide ballot propositions.
In its announcement issued on Monday, October 20th, Party Chairman David Mario Curcio confirmed full backing for Council Members David Carr and Frank Morano, who are both seeking re-election to the City Council. Carr is running in the 50th District, covering the island’s midsection, while Morano represents the 51st District on the South Shore.
Carr, speaking about the endorsement, expressed appreciation for the continued support and emphasized the importance of maintaining conservative momentum. “I am proud once again to receive the endorsement of the Staten Island Conservative Party and to carry their banner into November.” He emphasized that the goal is to “restore sanity to City Hall and make New York City great again.”
Morano likewise underscored his gratitude for the endorsement. “I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of the Conservative Party of Richmond County, a party with a proud history of standing up for common-sense values, fiscal responsibility, and a love of country.” He highlighted his commitment to providing “bold, principled leadership” and opposing policies he described as “high-tax” and “ultra-woke.”
The local party also endorsed three Republican nominees: John Shea for the City Council’s 49th District, Judge Remy Smith for Civil Court in the First Municipal District, and Judge Matthew Blum for the State Supreme Court.
While the party has not made official endorsements in citywide contests, it encouraged voters to support whichever mayoral candidate they believe can defeat the Democratic nominee. The organization reiterated its long-standing position advocating for Staten Island’s municipal independence and advised voters to reject all proposed ballot measures, describing them as harmful to the city.
